This site contains files that were originally burned onto a CD and given to several cousins. But I realized more of you might enjoy seeing them, so I created this web site. There are two primary sections, one for the Madsen branch of the family (Grandma Nielsen's relatives) and the other for the Nielsen branch, which includes most of us. The Madsen page contains links to two other pages. One is to a set of postcards found in Aunt Minnie's effects which show Neenah as it was in the early 1900's (if not earlier). The other is a set of scans of telegrams which solved one of our family's mysteries - "who was John Madsen and why did he die so young?". (John is buried in the Madsen family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Neenah, WI.) It seems John took a train trip in May of 1907 to meet his bride-to-be Angie Knapp in Hunter Hot Springs, Montana. En-route, he contracted typhoid fever and died before he could meet with Angie. The telegrams document his failing health and eventual death. The Nielsen page has a link to 32 pages of photos that were copied from a photo album belonging to Gladys - wife of James Nelson. Enjoy - and let me know of any questions or problems.
